MENEER HEIRMAN

AKA Xerxes Heirman

Illustrator

How did you got yourself into art?

I always had a passion for illustration.
I love comics/Graphic novels.
I love the fact that you can translate your fantasy into a visual.

What kind of art styles do you enjoy the most?

Illustration and sculptures.

More into contemporary art than modern art.

Any insane projects you have in mind to do in the future?

Make my own toy. Wooooo

What is your dream project?

I still would like to paint an aeroplane.
And make a living out of my abstract work only.

You are no stranger to the coffee world.
Do you often sit in coffee bars yourself?

My Father used to have a coffee bar and even won a golden coffee bean for his coffee.

And I drink my coffee every day in the studio or at the wall when I am painting a big wall…I LOVE A GOOD COFFEE 😁

"Good day to you!"

Way Coffee Roasters

After completing her education as an interior designer (2010), Charlene wanted to prolong her stay in Ghent. Advised by her friend she went to check out a new café in the centre of the city. A specialty coffee espresso bar.

It all started from there.

Charlene won several coffee competitions, 2012 World Aeropress was the biggest. Her main goal in life is to bring specialty coffee to a much broader audience.

Her favorite way of relaxing is either biking or Crossfit but sometimes there are days where Netflix helps to “drain the brain”.

After work you can find Charlene meditating and striking yoga poses in bed.

Way has a small team of 4.

Fabrice Van Besien (surfer/photographer) - barista/chef.

Xander Ramael (Musician/grafic artist) - chef. AKA the vegan king!

Ward De Corte (knife lover/fanatic angler) - roaster/logistics.

Charlene De Buysere - roaster/barista/trainer/green coffee sourcer. Responsible for all the recipes, roasting profiles, new wholesale customers, workshops and bar flow.

Charlene De Buysere:

“I can still taste my first cup of Kenia over at Caffènation.

The world championships (Barista, Aeropress & Brewerscup)

My visit to Guatemala (Thank you Efico, OR Coffee)

The La Marzocco factory was unforgettable too. (Thank you Patrick Limarc)

Katrien Pauwels, Simon Boone and Tom Janssen, I’ll never forget how they introduced me into the world of specialty coffee.

Luk Thys, for teaming up with me to start up WAY Specialty Coffee Roasters. “

Man Met Bril Koffie

When traveling in The Netherlands, Man Met Bril is always worth a visit. Last minute we needed to find an other roaster for helping us with a new third coffee for the boxes. We contacted the guys from Man Met Bril koffie and of coarse they supplied us with some nice freshly roasted coffee. Siebe, their roaster gave us a tour in the roastery and showed us around in the neighberhood and took us for some beers in his favourite bar nearby. We enjoyed our time, just what we needed at this moment. And we hope to be able to work with them again in the future.

“Thank you for this!"

Rebelbean

Coming from Brno the city of wine and great vibe.

Jan & Michal after few years working in cafés during studies, they have decided to kickflip the page and start roasting.

It was a long way, but totally worth it. The bean that rebelled aka the Rebelbean was officially founded by Michal Stec in 2013.

When not doing coffee you can find us traveling and enjoying life.

Our mission is to provide the energy for those, who are not afraid to live their lives by their own rules.

“For people who are not a crowd followers, but they are Rebels with cause, just like us."
